A listing of Military Personnel, Military Units, and Naval Vessels that served during World War II, on which we have information.
What is the Research Database?
Are you looking for information about a relative who served in the military during World War II? Do you know what unit or ship they served with, but don't know much about that unit or ship's battle history? If you answered yes to any of these questions, we might be able to help you.
We are compiling a database of military personnel, military units and naval vessels, on which we have information, that served during World War II. If we have a magazine article, book, documentary, photo, or other resource which contains information about a person, unit, or ship, it will be listed on the database.
What is the purpose of the Research Database?
Due to the recent popularity of World War II films such as "Saving Private Ryan" and "Band of Brothers", many people are becoming interested in what their father, mother, aunt, uncle, grandfather, or grandmother did during the war. Unfortunately, many veterans never tell their stories before they pass on or are forgotten, and many children of World War II servicemen never learn of their father's or grandfather's honorable service because they may have been lost in combat.
We are attempting to help "bridge the gap" between the information that is out there, and those that are interested in it, but don't have the time or resources to find or even look for it. We hope you find the information that you are looking for within these pages. If not, please check back with this site as we are constantly getting more resources and adding new names to the database. Good luck!
How much does it cost to submit a research request?
There is a flat research fee of $10.00 per research request (one name of a person, unit or ship equals one request). Once we have received your payment in the form of cash, check, money order, or Paypal (use our e-mail address, wwiihistorycenter@att.net when asked where to send payment), we will conduct the research you have requested. Research fee proceeds benefit the World War II History Center and its Research Library. To send a payment, click here.

With your paid $10.00 research fee, you may also have listed a family member or friend on our "Those Who Served" Index for free! Just click here to learn how you can add the name of someone you know that served during World War II to the index.
How Do I Use the Research Database?
Scroll down below (or use the search option) to find the nationality of the person, unit, or ship you are looking for. Then select the beginning number or letter of the name of person, unit or ship (first letter of the last name for people). All names are listed in alphabetical or numerical order. If you find the name of that person, unit, or ship, then contact us by e-mail, phone, or regular mail with your request for information. You are asked to send payment in one of the forms listed above before research on your request can begin. Once we receive payment, we will research the topic you are interested in and return the results to you. If you are interested in further information on the same topic, you will not be charged an extra fee. (If you would like us to mail you the information we have through the regular mail, there may be a fee for postage)

What if I can't find the name I am are looking for?
If you can't find the name you are looking for, but have some information yourself, we would like to have the information that you have. If you would like to have a listing added to the database, please send us the information you have regarding a person, unit, or ship, and we will add it. Please let us know where you found the information, and if possible, please send us copies of original documents. Thank you for your help!
